Privacy Policy

DataTagLink (“the App”) is an asset and equipment tagging application, available on Android, iOS, and the web. This page explains what information the App collects, why, and how it’s handled.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), and which company/organisation (“tenant”) and role you have access to.
- Location: when you create or edit a tag, the App automatically records your device’s approximate location at that moment, so the tag’s location history can be reviewed later.
- Photos and documents: any photos or documents (e.g. manuals, schematics) you choose to upload against a tag.
- Vehicle details: if you enter a vehicle registration number or VIN, that value is used to look up public vehicle details (make, model, year, etc.) to help pre-fill a tag’s fields.
- Activity history: a record of who created or changed a tag, and what changed, for audit purposes within your organisation.
How we use this information
All of the above is used solely to provide the App’s core functionality: letting you and your organisation create, find, and manage tagged items. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not run analytics or tracking of any kind.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information. Vehicle registration/VIN numbers you enter may be sent to a third-party vehicle-data lookup provider solely to retrieve public vehicle details for autofill. No other data is shared with third parties, except where required by law.
Data security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). On your device, login credentials/session tokens are stored using your platform’s secure credential storage (Keychain on iOS, encrypted storage on Android) rather than in plain text. Access to tag data is restricted to members of your own organisation/tenant.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account and your organisation’s tag records exist. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, contact us using the details below.
Children’s privacy
DataTagLink is a business/organisational tool and is not directed at, or knowingly used by, children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
